Here's a new journal page from last night using some new papers I received from my friend, Roseann Cazares. I adore the papers she sent me...
Roseann is selling collage grabbags. She has more information available here. I am absolutely floored with what she sent me!! She's got the best taste!!!!!
As they say in Southern California, it's "Storm Watch 2008". RAIN~! It's finally here. Stay off the road everyone, the goober drivers are out in full force! Tristan and I almost got slammed today by an idiot in an SUV who stopped (rolled, really) through the stop sign and as Tristan and I passed in front of them they decided to suddenly ignore that we were right in front of them and start driving (they probably didn't see us in the behometh they were driving). Needless to say I flipped out after managing to get us safely away from them. OY! Goober drivers. Stay inside if you can!
In all honesty, I do love the rain. I don't like California drivers in the rain (well, in the rain, when it's dry, when it's hot, etc.. LOL) ;)
I am openly looking for new places to teach in early 2009. You guys know me. I like a full weekend schedule. Right now, I don't have one. I am looking for new stores (small Mom & Pop stores are what I want. Michaels, Paper Source and stores like that do not work for me-thanks though). I have also taught in people's homes and studios. IF you are interested in hostessing a workshop in your home or store, please drop me an email at EGorey99@sbcglobal.net I'd love to talk to you!

Lastly, stay tuned for a major announcement this week. For those of you whom have asked about online classes, keep your eyes tuned to this page for more info!!!! :) I am VERY excited about this new venture.

Journal pages from the weekend-

*****

It's Lynda Barry Love Fest time!!!

Lynda Barry's book is OUT. I bought it yesterday at the local big box book store 'cause I could NOT wait any more...two years is MORE then enough. Weird-it's in the HUMOR section (of course, I had looked in every section BUT that one...whodathunkit thinking it was a how-to, graphic novel, memoir type book...I of course, thought that there should be piles and piles of them stacked by the front door with a big neon sign pointing to them, but that would be too easy...and comics aren't respected enough like other books. Alas, I digress...).

Oh. My. God.

You NEED This book.

NEED it.

The first thing I saw when it hit me in the face at the bookstore was the SIZE. A glorious 8 1/2 x 11". 210 pure full color pages in beautiful Lynda Barry style. The book is divided into various sections reading like a journal/memoir throughout. It's also chock full of ideas guaranteed to pull your Muse out of hiding and have you aching and itching to pull your own journal out and WORK. This will be by my bedside for a while. Save your pennies, folks. Give up the weekly dinner outing. Walk instead of drive. Do *anything* to get your hands on this book. Even you crazy folk out there who claim not to like or read comics will be in serious need of this book. Go now. Get thee to a bookstore!!!
